I have a 91 Civic with a 91CRXsi engine and an Integra ECU. It's pretty quick for only 130HP. A professional did the work, so I'm assuming the ECU makes a difference here.

I have a raft of chips... low timing, high timing, emissions, 93 octance, 104...

But as said before, it's a forced induction motor.

I used to use an emissions chip (Thanks Jim Testa!), a bottle of RXP, and I could get through Florida emissions (when we had them), with a hollowed cat, and 36lb injectors. :)

I've got a piggyback chip I guess you could call it. Maf-Translator that lets me use a GM MAF in my car in different intake configurations.

That's on the fly tuning though, didn't come with a map or anything, I had to do it all myself.

I went from 16.1 in the quarter to 15.6 when I re-mapped my BMW 525, which is a NA motor. Specs on the chip said 10-15 HP increase, but who knows.

The only real significant difference these things make on an otherwise stock car is that they increase the pressure that the wastegate opens at on turbocharged cars. If your car's not turbocharged, they don't do much of anything at all.
If that's all they did, you could buy a ~$20 manual boost controller and call it good.

it doesn't only increase boost, it also advances timing if possible

I did the Dinan Stage 1 software for my BMW. Didn't notice a lot of gain but it didn't give better throttle repsonse and the speed limiter was removed (not that I am going to drive over 150MPH). It's worth the retail price $499 I have to say no. It's worth half price $250 which was what I paid and I have to say yes. It enhanced the driver experience.

I have a button on my BMW that does that. ;)

Do you have the new M5 (V-10) ?

E46 M3. The Sport button increases the actuation rate of the throttle. Voodoo claims better throttle response is all he can feel in the real world, that's what my button does ;)
