Has anyone here even heard of monsoon speakers?

I have the 2.1 and 5.1 sets that they make. They are both amazing. How is it that noone ever has/mentions them? Seriously, everything in its price range and some things more expensive get their ass handed to them by these speakers.

It's not even like people rarely mention them. I have never once heard anyone mention anything besides Logitech, Klipsch or Creative Labs.

Please tell me you people have heard these speakers and are just not very talkative about them :)

I have them. MH505s and I love them. I like how the bass sounds cripser than the 5.1 logitech setup (which my brother has....they are way to bassy for me) and the sound is nice~

now if only i got the rear speakers to punch out audio as loud as front speakers i'd be happy :p

You can do that with a simple splitter... you just need to get something that is female 1/8 to 2 x male 1/8. I wish there was a software solution though :( only problem is you loose 2 channels if you use them...

Could've sworn someone recently mentioning Monsoon is no longer in business. Thats probably one reason you're not really hearing about them.

The people over at 3DSS forums talked about the Monsoon speakers. I own the Planar Media 14's, bought them cheap ($80 Canadian) after Monsoon pulled out of multimedia speakers. I think they're still doing factory installs of car audio systems (Pontiac Grand Am cars come to mind)

I know someone who just bought a new VW GTI. It came with a monsoon system. Sounds pretty good.

My system has Monsoon Planer media 14 2.1 speakers. I purchased planar speakers instead of regular cone speakers on a whim - have never looked back. Awesome sound!

If I had known they made computer speakers I would have checked them out. I love the monsoon setup in my golf.

My '01 Buick Regal GS had Monsoon sound but it isn't near as good as the Bose system in my '04 Cadillac CTS.

zero.

Just kidding ... I purchased my Monsoon speakers last August (8/2003), and Monsoon went belly up a few weeks later. From what I can tell from the user manual (and from what I remember from researching them last August), they didn't have model numbers.

At the time, Monsoon offered three 2.1 systems: PlanarMedia 14, PlanarMedia 9, PlanarMedia 7. All three systems used the same planar satelite speakers; the difference between the systems are the subwoofers and amplifier power.

PlanarMedia 14: Satelites: 2 x 25W, Subwoofer: 2 x 25W. (100 Wrms total). Max acoustic output in a typical desktop environment: 103 dB.

PlanarMedia 9: Satelites: 2 x 19W, Subwoofer: 2 x 19W. (76 Wrms total). Max acoustic output in a typical desktop environment: 101 dB.

PlanarMedia 7: Satelites: 2 x 8W, Subwoofer: 1 x 19W (35 Wrms total). Max acoustic output in a typical desktop environment: 96 dB.

(If you want additional system specs, drop me a PM.)

i guess im old school. i have a 2.1 monsoon called MM-700, their top of the line 2.1 was MM-1000 i beleive
bought it 4-5 years ago, and still going on strong.

back in the late nineties, instead of klipsh, logitech, creative, it was monsoon, midiland, and some other company i forgot.

Thing with their stuff is that IMO the cheapest line sounds the best. MH-502 (i think, used to be mh-500 then they redesigned?) is the best 2.1 soundwise. The MH-505 is the same cept 5.1 sound :)
