So normally I ignore the booths set up during lunch at the university but this one caught my eye.

Forest fire fighter...now I think that is fairly cool and its only a summer gig...but what threw it over the top is it is a airborne unit and they lift you to the location in helicopters (freaking cool) the pay is doubly what my job is now but is only a summer thing

Also you need to pass a physical fitness test TEST!!!

but yeah has anyone done anything like that...I'm probably in no condition to do that test...maybe the walk but not the other stuff but i also have like 7 weeks to get in condition

I only been on mop up crew 1 season, but you have to be the best of the best to make it into the Rapattack crew (veteran must compete and training every year for the single season contract)

And, most if not all Rapattack went on to become firefighters or trainers.

2 of my buddies are ex rapattack firefighter.

Must have First Aid Ticket level 3, Drivers License, Resource or Wilderness work experience, High level of academics or fitness achievements, Personal weight cannot exceed 175 lbs. dressed, Attend and successfully complete pre-season training at a provincial boot camp.

For Rapattack: It is highly preferred that you hold a valid OFA Level 3. This must be valid through September of the year for which you are applying.

The recruitment process is highly competitive, and we may also use the following preferred qualifications to further screen applications:
Resource training/Resource experience (Post secondary training in Forestry, Geology, Resource Management, etc.)
Fire Suppression experience (BCFS/Contract/EFF/other provinces)
WCB Falling and Bucking Ticket/Chainsaw experience (falling and/or bucking)
Wilderness work experience
WCB OFA Level 3
Supervisory experience/Coaching experience
Mechanical/small engine experience
Fire Suppression Training (S-100 course)[q/]
