paralazarguer is there anyway i can find out if that computer show will have a Seagate 15,000 rpm 15.3K SCSI HD to try out in person ? I don't really want to buy anything there inless its cheaper than online which i don't think will be the case. I don't even know if they sell computer hardware. It may just be all prebuilt computers.

Yeah they come to Columbus, OH quite often. usually there are a couple local vendors and then a bunch of German/russian types and some Japanese or Chinese or some origin like that. I don't believe I have ever seen any of them carry that drive. But i was never looking for it either.

coolred ok. What kind of stuff did they sell that you did see ? Was it all mostly prebuilt computers for sale? How were the prices on computer hardware if they sold any of that? Plus was it worth going to?

They've been to Chicago. Actually, to Rosemont, IL. Their shows are the worst I have been to. I went once and it was half-decent. The next time I came back, they replaced half the comp. vendors with a golf show! That made me pretty angry since it was most of the good vendors. Anyways, their shows always suck, their products are overpriced, and their selection is terrible.

I went to one in 99 here in Minneapolis/St. Paul, it was ok except for the fact I got screwed.

At the time I was looking to get components for my new system, I got a Soltek SL-56D1 (which turned out to be flakey and replaced with an Asus P5A) and an AMD K6-3 450MHz, well they didn't have any more on hand, so I agreed that it would be shipped to me 2 day UPS from the warehouse, never saw it, called about 5 times, it'll be in tomorrow blah blah blah. Told them to cancel it 3 weeks later, well they up and took off with my $450 for it :| . The credit card co. wouldn't do anything because PC Microcomponents said it was shipped. Tried to take them to court, but by the time the sheriff got there they had packed up and disconnected the phones. So if anyone happens to see Ken Adams and company (was PC Microcomponents, PMC or Littron Innovations out of Dayton or Xenia, Ohio) give them a swift kick in the nuts for me ;) I"m pissed just thinking about it again :disgust:

My 2 cents.

Ok. Thanks everyone. No wonder they don't have a catalog anywhere. I not going to waste $8 to get in. I wish i was 12 or younger then i could get in for free. Well i could maybe pass for 12 but i don't think anymore. Then again my weight is around a average 12 year old.

I stopped going to computer shows when prices on the Net become lower than those at the shows. This was about 3 years ago. No more bargain prices at the shows...

VBboy i wonder why they don't ever have any bargins at the computer shows anymore ? I never been to one so this would of been my first one but i don't think i am going to go. I figured online prices would still be a whole lot cheaper than the computer show prices.

By the way do you remember what computer shows sold ? Like did you ever see any Seagate 15,000 rpm SCSI HDs that you could try in person ?

Thanks.

They used to have anything, from videocards to CPUs to printers. You couldn't really "try" an internal component at the show, you had to buy it and test it at home. I don't buy there anymore because I read too many horror stories at ResellerRatings.com and now only buy from reputable online merchants. Computer shows used to be loads of fun because I'd go with my buddies and discuss various products.

I think I saw some SCSI drives, but not too sure. They usually bring cheaper stuff there.
