Has anyone heard of a company named Vector?

I got a letter from them:
Due to our continuning expansion in the US ans successful college work programs nationwide, out company will be conducting intervies with graduating high school seniors for summer openings in customer sales and service.

Blah blah blah

I also know my sister a econ major from Stanford got a letter from them too.

What does this compnay do? I can't find a website or any other information

I don't believe the starting salary: 17.25 and then on the next line it says:
Comprehensive training program/no expierience necessary

Is this some kind of scam?

There used to be a company awhile back called Vector that made a real exotic car but i thought they went belly up.

Haha, I already have a job at IBM this summer, but I was just wondering. I make $17 an hour acutally programming and doing IT. Just wonder how they could pay $17 for something that requires no experience

I remember a car company name vector by the americans. Supposedly, they were competing against lambhorgini and other italian fast cars.

Not sure whether this is the vector that you are mentioning. Google search?

The student then is responsible for cold-calling up customers and then visiting them in person to demonstrate the product (some are quite excellent, actually). Basically, door to door selling.

They'll train you to know your products and how to approach a client through a training camp. Even at $17.25, it's a crappy job. Mamma didn't raise me to be no knife salesman!

HAHAHAHAH, man I hate calling ppl up. I did lots of crap like that when I volunteered at a political compaign, some ppl are just down rite rude

yeah, they do sell knives..its really stupid. I went to the interview thing cause it sounded pretty cool but I left 1/2 way through the interview cuz it was such a sham.

Well, since I actually did their sh*t once, lemme tell you how it goes. Somehow, they get your name and address and mail you a letter about a job that guarentees $18/hr or whatever it is in your area. You go to the interview where the manager demonstrates some knives. At this &quot;interview&quot;, if you wore a tie or dressed up, you got the job. So now, you're really excited.

So every so often, they train you on how their knives work and how to sell them. You job is to sell as many as possible to people you know, neighbors, whatever method works for you. If you sell tons of knives, they'll leave you alone. Once your output slows down, they'll begin to harass you, telling you to come into the office for training, harassment, etc.

Some things I learned are that selling knives sucks, calling people sucks, Cutco knives, the ones you'll be selling are pretty darn nice, and they also have scissors that cut through a penny pretty easily.

I still have a Cutco knife around that I use constantly because it works like a charm. They have a &quot;forever&quot; warranty. As long as you have the knife, you can call them up and they'll send out a lackey to sharpen it for ya.

Vector is a small division of this Tri branch company. I worked for them for like two days. They make you sell Cutco knives. The knives are REALLY nice, quality stuff....but the people arent. Everyone is just a sleezy salesperson trying to make commission. If youre the type of person that likes to sell things including yourself, the job is cool. I didnt really like it cause of the sleeziness, and also cause you have to drive around wearing formal clothes...you dont get paid for gas!!!
so my advice is just to find any other job, its not really worth it, but some people actually like it....and you CAN make a lot of money if you dedicate your time to making sales.

Around here it's 17.05 per appointment. But when you add it up, you spent a whole lot of time making appointments, then you spent time driving there. the average presentation is about an hour so you could be spending up to 2 hours for the one appointment. Then they don't pay for gas, and the 2-3 days of training are without pay also.

It's basically like this: You're an independent contractor now. They lend/sell you a set of knives. You go to peoples houses and try to sell them. It's like your own &quot;start your own knife selling business kit&quot; It's not telemarketing or door to door...&quot;it's telemarketing and door to ride across the city door.&quot; If you have no problem selling out your family and friends, go for it.
