Has anyone heard any horror stories about the Nissan Murano?

Let's not get into a bash Nissan or whatever thread.

My parents are going to buy a Nissan Murano. In fact they were going to buy one this month. But they just heard a story about one in Winnipeg, and the transmission blew up! No one was hurt, but they weren't able to figure out why it happened and are shipping it back to Japan to be tested.

Now I told my parents that this sounds like a fluke event. And they are pretty much feeling the same way, but I think they are going to hold off for a year to see if this is something of a common occurance.

Anyone else heard any stories like this? I'd like to give them some info. I'm checking KBB and some other sites. But I just want some other info if anyone has it.

Sounds like a ridiculous load of balooney, or at most a fluke event.

I'd find a murano fan website (there must be one), and just post on the forums there.

murano is a new car model, and like all new car models the have many problems their first year.

My parents were going to buy one but they're planning on waiting until the 2004's come out so the 2003's will be clearanced out. I told 'em first model year = problems but they don't listen.

Oh well, get a Maxima instead then 🙂 Less SUV's on the road 😉

Anyway, that sounds like BS, and if the tranny blew up, I am thinking they just mean the tranny bombed was all.. prolly a factory defect.

I suppose it's possible for the tranny to blow. Afterall I heard that nissan is now mixing 1:1 nitrous:tranny fluid in their new trannies for faster shifting.

As a side note are people getting tired of my constantly mindless nissan fanboism?

Further more if the answer to that question is yes I don't care!

That would be a nice cold running Tranny.. but they function best at about 160~ degree's 😉

Well, the Murano has a brand new CVT transmission hooked up to a torquey VQ35 engine.

Sounds "possible" for a new model

The same company putting a Dana 44 behind a 375lbs of torque motor and giving it a 9400lb tow rating :disgust:...
