Has anyone heard this bs about our government being the one who did the attacks on the WTC? I watched some guy on the news try to prove that it was us, and his argument was stupid. His main theory is since the building imploded, that their must have been bombs placed inside the building. He said that there has never been a fire that has made a metal building to collapse. He must of forgotten that there were airplanes that also hit the buildings as well. That guy really pissed me off. What would our own government have to gain for doing such an act of terror? :disgust:

No...it's pretty much a bunch of loons. There are ~75 persons (out of ~ hundreds of thousands) associated with universities accross the country, most of whom typically have no background whatsover in any related field, who advocate this "theory". You could probably find about the same number who also belive in UFO's, the Loch Ness Monster, etc. Their arguments typically hinge on the fact that they don't like the way the buidings collapsed, (read: they don't understand) therefore, there must be a huge conspiracy.

You can guarantee many partisan loons will buy into that we?re the only evil in the world. Which is what this theory is all about.

Fixed. If anyone else was in office some of these conspiracy theorists wouldn't be arguing at all.

Agreed.

Interestingly, there's probably more people in the same position who believe in "Intelligent Design," but a lot of the conspiracy theorists (at least on these boards) laugh about academic support for "Intelligent Design."

about 35% of people believe there is some validity to it according to some polls.
probably closer to 60% in here:roll:
Your initial response that it was stupid was just your common sense kicking in.
You can thank the I hate bush/cheney camp for this disservice to America.

Operation Northwoods: Proof that the government has conspired against its own citizens in the past.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=92662&page=1

In the year 2000, The Neo-Conservatives of PNAC (Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Bolton, etc) openly called for a "New Pearl Harbor" event in order to implement their foreign policy in the Middle East. One year later on 9/11, they received their wish.

"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event ? like a new Pearl Harbor."

Gee, what's this? Smoke + Dust clouds rising up from the streets at the exact same time of huge pre collapse explosions? All of which have been omitted from all official government reports you say? Couldn't be!

All this conspiracy stuff is sick....

The two towers and bldg 7 all fell down alike cuz they were all hit by airplanes and built in the same manner so collapsed just like one would expect.... what is so hard about that to understand..

Molten steel... at the base of the towers and bldg 7 is easy to explain.... It was hot there.

Are you serious? What would our government have to gain? Plenty, namely power and wealth. It can be an excuse to go to war, and war can be extremely profitable. Weapons dealers, manufacturers of armor, ammunition, aircraft - plenty of money to be made. War can make a few people extremely rich. It also can be used to scare a lot of people into believing that a specific leader will keep them safe, while another is "weak" and putting that person into power would result in more attacks.

It would hardly be the first time a government has attacked its own people for some kind of gain. It would just be another form of manipulating the masses. Fear and hatred are powerful motivators.

The loons in this thread are the ones who make wild claims in discrediting people without even making an educated comment to back it up, let alone evidence.

nice article.

Let's not forget this little gem:

While the government has consistently stated that it did not know where the aircraft were before they struck, the Secretary of Transportation testified before the 9/11 Commission that Vice President Cheney monitored flight 77 for many miles as it approached the Pentagon. Of course, the 9/11 Commission then omitted his testimony from all official records. Why, that doesn't smell like a cover-up, does it?

You were granted the opportunity to state your case within the thread(s) that were left unlocked in OT.

By bringing your ideas/theories outside of OT and here to FI, you have violate the guidelines.
Your links within the posts in this thread have been editied out.

You are now also granted 1 week to flush out your theories without being distracted by posting here at Anandtech.

Pull this stunt again and the conspiracy will increase Exponentially.

Exactly. They want to blame the Bush admin/govt/USA for EVERYTHING. I think they'd make great religious nuts, same simplistic "devil" to blame for all wrongs

I don't think there's any question that there's more to what went on than the government openly disclosed, but I won't go so far as to claim a single unified plot. If anything it's great support for transparant government and civilian oversight.

While that's great and all, this thread is specifically about those things and therefore he's not violating anything by posting it here.

Well, here's what the mod says about P&N :D

Should this subject show up again in P&N, the original poster of that thread will earn a month off to watch the "documentary". A thread has been allowed in OT for this type of "information". Use it or loose it.

YOU ARE LYING. They are not "calling" for a new Pearl Harbor. You are lying to us to push your bullshit. The passage is saying that transformation of the military is likely to be slow without some disasster. It's an analysis if anything, not a "calling for a 'new Pearl Harbor.'

It's playing loose with the facts like this that lets lazy-minded people come up with this type of crap. I'm so sick of it. Get a fu*cking life.
