has anyone had a cracked ipod/iphone screen replaced under warranty?

I googled and it said that it isn't covered, but I did a search here and it seems apple has "let it slide" before?

How do I go about approaching apple. I have an ipod nano 6th gen with a cracked screen, and it should be covered atm. It works fine so I am not terribly upset but it'd be nice to get the screen replaced.

Any tips?

I had a friend get his repaired for nothing. He just took it in, and they replaced it. He's got a ton of Apple stuff though, and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

A co-worker said her husband got one fixed for free also. She is also a heavy Apple user...

Well, if you get a nice Apple employee (which most usually are), they'll be extremely lenient towards you. My friend had his iPhone 3GS screen repaired for free, and it was his first time ever in the store.

Just be truthful with them, and hope in return they'll be kind to you.

well I figure my nano is the newest gen so i think they'd be lenient

My iphone 2g however don't think there's a chance for that to be fixed for free

Would it have to do with the device? The nano screen is glued onto the LCD itself so it has to replace the entire display module, while on 3GS or so it's just the outer glass part

well good news, they replaced it free, just be upfront and honest, and be friendly and they'll treat you the same

he came out with a brand new ipod nano 6th and just said "next time be more careful"

Good to hear they replaced. My girlfriend spilled some liquid on her brand-new iPhone 4 and they swapped it out for her also. I told her to just tell the truth and then see what happens!
