My wife has a great great grand uncle, still living at 108 (in India) - born in 1905.
We visited his village last summer, and had a great time when we met him, because the whole village came over too. Everybody calls him grandpa, but by tracing the lineage I figured out he's a first-cousin to my mother-in-law's grandfather, none of whom are alive (my wife's parents died young).
He still has a great memory, though slightly weak of sight and hearing. He looks at my wife and asks, "How's your health? I remember I had to give you medicine for your sniffles, are they gone?", and that's exactly what my wife had told us about earlier!
Feisty old man - knows he's a celebrity of sorts in the family and village, so makes sure everybody's entertained. He grabs my 13-year-old, and demands - "Why have you not married her off yet? She's getting to be an old maid!" Then he grabs my 10-year-old, and says, "You are ready for marriage too, but you are too skinny. Eat well, else boys will reject you!"
He tells me, "Next time you visit, please get me a diary or journal to write my daily thoughts on; but please get me a 5-year-diary, I don't want to keep changing it every year!"
My girls couldn't wait to get back to school here and share all that
