Haven't heard too much chatter about this on AT...just wanted to know if anyone's bought one.

Amazon has the orange 16GB for $177 - probably because it's such a great color.

get a case for it. It will literally cut you since the edges are so sharp. I don't know how they designed basically a knife and approved it, but its awesome for everything else.

If you're set on a Nano or that price, feel free to ignore this, but have you considered a Touch? I was all set to buy a Nano to replace my fat 3rd gen nano, and got talked into a 2nd gen touch instead. 8 GB instead of 16, but it's only 50 bucks more and blows the nano out of the water in every conceivable way.

Well, except for size :) If someone wants itty-bitty, then you get the nano or shuffle. If you want every feature under the sun, you get the iPhone, and pay the monthly fee. If you want every feature except bluetooth and phone, you get the iPod Touch. If you want the largest storage capacity then you get the iPod Classic.

I had an iPhone 3G, so no Touch for me...the iPhone/Touch are nice devices, but it was too big for me to carry around in lab, and Blackberries still did push better. So I'm going back to splitting up my devices.

8GB was an okay size for me, but I'd like slightly bigger, and the 8GB 3rd gen nano refurb was $99, wheres I could double the capacity with a newer model for less than twice the price...that's why I'm looking at the Nano.

Oh wells, I made out more than fine with my iPhone sale so I think I'd sprint for the larger capacity nano anyways.

and you can't control the ipod touch w/o looking. that's my biggest gripe about the touch... I can't use it in the car (and buying a device to retrofit ipod controls to my steering controls is not something i want to do).
