Has anyone gotten Need for Speed 5: Porsche Unleashed to work in XP?

With the release of NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, I was reminded that I still can't get NFS: PU (porsche unleashed) to work on my Windows XP Home Edition machine. Has anyone had success? Is there any secret?

I think I got it to work a while ago.... don't remember doing anything special. Did you try Win98 compatibility mode? -Tal

I've heard the WinXP fix is the same as the Win2k fix. Just rename or delete the file "gimme.dll" that is in the game's directory. Never tried it on XP but that's what I have done on 2K and it plays just fine.

anyway PU works fine on my friend WinXP Pro.. Install and run.

It always worked fine on both my & my roommate's boxes.

The only trouble we had was occasional hard locks during races (particularly on the Normandie track), but other than that it ran quite well.
