Has Anyone Gotten A Coppermine Pentium3 To Work On An ABIT BH6 1.0?

Has anyone gotten a Coppermine P3 to work on the old ABIT BH6 1.0 (not 1.1)? ABIT says that it is not supported on the old ABIT BH6's, but I've read reports of it working on the internet.

I was about to get a Celeron 800, but now I'm thinking that maybe I should take the risk and get a P3-800 instead (and save a few $$$ by not having to buy a Slotket).

Shantanu, talk of P!!!'s on BH6's has died down a bit in the last months, but the board still has some life left in it. Ignore what Abit says re P!!! on a BH6 (especially rev1.0x). There are reports too numerous to mention of success w/ P!!!'s up to 1GHz on BH6's, both in the forums and in the Abit newsgroup.

Three caveats. First, flash the the latest BIOS (SS for rev1.0x, SP for rev1.1) before you swap processors. Second, as always w/ the BH6 make sure you use quality RAM. And finally, go w/ a 100MHz FSB P!!! rather than the 133MHz FSB processor as 133MHz FSB is iffy on the BH6, as is the resultant 89MHz AGP and 44MHz PCI bus.

FWIW I've been running an FC-PGA P!!!-650 on a rev1.02 BH6 since June 99 and it hasn't as much as hiccuped once during that time.
