has anyone gone snow tubing?

It's fun but I'd get a day pass if they have that option. At least where I went they had a "cottage" area where you could hang out, eat etc. So you go tubing for a few hours, go hang out there to eat something or just take a break, go back and so on.

Yep - for the past 2 years now this is what we mostly do. Snowtubing, sledding, snowmobiling.

Sure, I could go snowboarding, but leaving my wife and my daughter to their own devices is not very cool. My daughter is not old enough to take the ski school, and my wife will be left watching her for the whole day.

This way we together have much more fun.

Can't you buy your own innertube and find a hill?

Call me crazy, but they're charging for something you can totally do yourself.

You pay for a groomed track (and if it's a good track the thrills are x10 regular downhill) and for a lift. Lugging your tube up the hill for the twentieth time is not fun. Especially in the mountains at high altitude.

the same could be said for skiing/snowboarding or any sport for that matter.

I was completely bored by it. Way less fun than skiing or boarding.

Edit: Think putting a car in neutral and drifting down a ramp vs actually driving.

I flew off my tube once... I think you had the bunny hill.

It is fun but I wouldn't get a cabin on top of a mountain and spend the weekend only doing tubing. Great if you have kids, they love it. I'm just saying, don't make a weekend thing for it as you would skiing or snowboarding. ^ is right. Get a running start, go doubles and fight on the way down. Its great.

I did it @ Village des Sports in Quebec. it was great fun. you could fit more than one person in some of the big tubes. seriously, do it. There were about 30 of us from my highschool at the time, it was killer.
