Has anyone found a really good can opener?

They always seem to be bent, or broken, with dull blades and handles that come off.
Some slicce into the side of the can, making a less sharp edge when the lid comes off.
Folks here are analytical consumers, so I bet folks here have found some better options.

Old school Swing-away.

We have two of them that are over 35 years old. They could possibly use new cutting wheels, but otherwise, they work as well now as they did when they were brand new.

This is a personal pet peeve of mine. We are so accustomed to being a throw-away society, that companies make things throw away that have absolutely no discernible reason to be made so. Plastic cups, paper plates, one time use items, sure. Cars and electronics which get outdated and see wear and tear, ok. But why the hell is an ice cream scoop made so shittily that it bends when trying to scoop frozen ice cream? Am I supposed to replace my ice cream scooper on a 3 year rotation? Why did my can opener bend after opening it's 500'th beer? Why can't people make things with some modicum of pride? I know the answer, but I don't have to like it. It's not only pathetic, it's bad for the earth.

Because you bought the $3 ice cream scoop instead of the $8 ice cream scoop. You get what you pay for.

Absolutely.

Quality is still out there; you simply need to choose wisely.
Not with ice cream scoops. They all crap now. You can get the two part ones that break in the middle or the one piece ones that are made of reject material from a Chinese fishing weight factory. I'd happily pay good money for a good scoop but they re simply not to be had at any price.

We've had our Schwan's ice cream spade for well over 20 years...and it's showing zero signs of failure.

Don't buy crap china made stuff then. You generally get what you pay for. I put generally in quotes on purpose. I make certain when it comes to kitchen stuffs to pay for things that last a lifetime if not more.

And a can opener is one of them.

Mine is similar to the Oxo one, and it side 'cuts'. It doesn't seem to cut as simply pry the lid away from the body where they glue it together. I'll never buy one that you punch in as this way is sooo much cleaner and less of a hassle as you never have to dig the lid out.

Do they still make them? The same way? Link to said scoop?

I don't know if they still make them or not. Our Schwan's driver gave our to us at Christmas way back when...Googling doesn't show any current promotions or availability.
