I woke up after falling asleep in my computer chair to find my arm asleep and my wrist dead with the cause being a dead radial nerve. Not being able to use your left hand for a few months while the nerve regenerates is real real awesome.

Only 2 or 3 times I can remember. However, after sitting on certain fixtures for long periods, my legs fall asleep, but when they start waking up, it's the worst pain ever. That and my left eye is asleep right now, can't see anything out of it:(.

Yes, but it's always just one arm where the circulation got cut off. It doesn't take 2-3 minutes to recover for me, more like 30 seconds. It's still strange when it happens

I've fallen asleep with my arm over the back of chair at a Lanner. Luckily my friend woke me up. Apparently if you spend long enough in this position you can get permanent nerve damage.

Actually it's funny that you made this post. This happened to be just a few days ago; i woke up with my arm under my pillow and my arm was 100% asleep. It took 2-3 minutes to recover.

I wonder if an arm can suffer blood deprevation in this manner and fall off.

I've had this happen a few times. The most embarassing time happened the first week I was living in the dorms with someone I didn't know. The alarm clock went off to get me up to go to class but I couldn't move my arms. I ended up flailing my arms to hit the snooze but it took a few attempts. I'm sure my new roommate thought I was retarded or something but later I explained what happened and we both laughed

This is one of the hazards of firm mattresses - pressure points. Add a soft foam topper, or purchase a softer matress and you will lesson the chances of this happening.

Oh yeah... arms fall asleep all the time. I have also separated my shoulder in my sleep and hyper-extended my elbow in my sleep. (Did that about two months ago...)

I have this problem every once in a while. I always have this fear looming in the back of my head that I'll go to sleep and, of course, both my arms will fall asleep. Only this time I don't wake up and they become so asleep that when I wake up my arms are dead, and they have to be amputated.

This is of course based on the notion that your arms fall asleep because a lack of blood flow, which I'm not even sure if that is why it happens.

Happens to my right leg. I remember back in college i woke up late for an exam, jumped out of bed and i fell completely flat on my face. I tried walking with one leg with little success and i just waited till that tingly feeling came back to my leg.

was at GF's house, I fell asleep, a short nap but my leg was hanging off the bed. I had been having serious #2 issues that day. The second I woke up I instantly jumped up because I felt like had to #2 a second ago. When I jumped up I fell to the ground at the first attempt to take a step, my leg was dead numb, I couldn't feel a thing. I tried to get up 3 times and each time fell right away.

was hilarious cos I had to poo so bad

You know what's scary? Waking up completely paralyzed. It happens to me about once a week, and man, that shi[/i]t is scary.. You don't come out of it until you almost suffocate, because you can't breathe.. It gets less scary over time, though, when you KNOW you'll snap out of it.

That's call Sleep Paralysis, I've had it since I was young.

But I've never heard of not being able to breathe. I can only control my eyes and lungs when I'm paralyzed. The rest of my body I cannot control. I, and most people also usually hallucinate (your dreams are mixing with reality is what's happening) while paralyzed.

I've hallucinated about everything from a car salesman being in my room trying to sell me a Subaru (not kidding) to aliens surrounding me and demons standing on my bed. It's not like a dream though, it's incredibly real, almost to the point to where you seriously think it's happening to you...because you're awake, and you can hear, feel, and see these things/people. Very freaky.

Yeah, sometimes I fall asleep with my arm under the pillow and my head on the pillow. But it recovers kinda quick. It freaked me once when I woke up and tried to light a cigarette. I used my left hand to put the stick in my mouth, held the matchbox in my left hand - I tried to strike the match (holding it in my right hand) and it just flailed like crazy.

I've had that happen once. It was definitely like being awake + paralyzed + dreaming at the same time.

I woke up and was facing away from my bedroom window and towards the door. I noticed I couldn't move anything but my eyes, and I was about 95% awake. The breeze blew against my blinds gently and played a light trick near my door that looked like a person coming into my room. I hallucinated to the point of actually seeing a person and that freaked me out. I remember panicking when I saw the person but I couldn't move despite my best efforts. The person walked around my bed to the window side and disappeared out of my field of view as they came up behind me. At this point I was almost going crazy. I tried flailing around as best I could and in an instant felt myself come the last 5% into reality as I flailed one of my arms right into my face.
