has anyone ever visited somewhere and said, "wow, now THESE people know how to drive well!"

doesn't it seem that "no one knows how to drive in <fill in the blank>?" has anyone ever been somewhere and though, "geez, i sure wish people drove like this back home!"

...things i think about instead of sleeping...

In Dallas...I love the crosstown freeways in Dallas.

Everyone drives about 80 and seems to have some degree of knowing what to do and when to do it.

yep, College Station, TX (well its where I go to college, but when I first visited there) everybody is really friendly and let people in...just part of bein a good Aggie - Gig em 🙂

I agree with the freeways in Dallas, but not surface streets. Some of the most dangerous intersections EVAR are in Dallas and they're not particularly badly designed. I would just see an Explorer wrapped around a light pole once a week or so.

No. Old people are driving everywhere, so everywhere sucks to drive.

Heh, we have an *ahem* "Editorial Board" at the radio station I work at. All decrepid elderly. The current one says "For all of you young drivers, almost all of you have been or will be at fault in an accident".

I say give me a brazen 16 year-old with decent reflexes in a ricer rather than a 175 year-old driving a Buick.

I swear half of them are driving around just looking to commit suicide.

Some of the longest timed lights EVAR are in Dallas. I swear on the major arterial streets, you can sit at a light for 5 minutes.

The freeways rule, the intown streets suck. Just try not to get lost around the Galleria.

No way. I lived there for 5 years and never thought there were any good drivers. Good lord, there were days when I just wanted to kill myself and take as many people with me.

Austin isn't too bad though, atleast in the places where traffic actually moves.

I'd say the taxi cab drivers in New York and Taipei, Taiwan. They somehow manage to maintain high speeds regardless of which side of the road they're on, cut in and out, and get you to where you want to be in record time.

I remember our first trip to Las Vegas. We dont do the cab thing here so it was pretty new for the wife and myself. Flying through alleys and service drives @ 50MPH is always a eye opening experience.
