i'm still unemployed :(...and have been thinking about using some of these sites out there that claim they send your resume to 1000+ recruiters and at the same time maintaining the relevance of your resume to those they send it to, in other words, making sure they send my resume to IT Security related job recruiters instead of Financial Insurance recruiters...all this for a fee, like $50 or so...

resume dispatcher
recruiter connection
xpostit

these are the ones i've come across, and i'm tempted to use their service but wanted to get an opinion from anyone that's used them before i drop some good money on them...has anyone ever used or know anyone who has used these resume dispatching websites?
what was your/their outcome?

Sounds like a good idea, but I personally wouldn't just apply anywhere unless I was extremely desperite. I like to know where I'm applying to save myself interview time and what not. The best way to get a job is to people-network and try to get your foot in the door that way. ;)

So let me get this straight. These sites just say that they will send your resume out to so many recruiters. Do they tell which recruiters? Emails are public, so its not hard to just grad recruiter emails. Infact just sending an email to recruiter@company.com is enough. So all these sites are doing is they have compiled a huge list of email address (by permission or not), and just send the resume out to them. Great idea, lots of money to be made.

I was on monster.com and was reading some of those discussions. Everyone had something negative to say about these services.

I've read several articles in the local paper that HR people are starting to ignore or only glance at emailed resumes because they're getting so many unsolicited, irrelevant and unqualified resumes. They're having the same problem with paper resumes, but email resume spam is apparently getting much worse.

I'd say not to do it -- eventually the HR people will start blacklisting anyone who spams them, and you could miss out on a potential job because of your spamming.
