Has anyone ever used those BowFlex things?

Here's the deal. I'm a full time college student and I work 30 hrs a week. So all I do is sit on my butt at work, go to class and study. The only exercise I get is walking to class. I need some type of exercise equipment that is effective and doesn't take to long to do.
These BowFlex machines seem to fit the bill, but my god, they are expensive. So if you have ever used one: are they good machines, do they do what the company claims? Is it really worth that much money?

i myself prefer free weights. but that's just me...

I have used them before and they are great if you just want to tone/strengthen but not build mass.
