has anyone ever used an LCD projector to watch DVDs?

Hi, I searched the forums for this topic and came up with nothing.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience rigging a DVD player to an LCD projector to watch movies. I want a big screen but have to move around the next few years and don't want to get a 57 inch TV just yet. Anyone?

It is entirely possible, just have a connector (most times DB15 or S-Video) go from your video card to the projector. You will then have to configure your display drivers to use the projector as a second monitor. I have wanted to do this but a projector is too much money for me. :(

Acutally, the "theater" we had at my camp in Kuwait was an LCD projector on the side of a tent playing DVD's. It worked well enough.

I've been interested in this too. LCD projectors have more of a "screen door" effect. But as long as you can live with it everything I've seen says they'll work. Also you want at least a 1280x1024 native res if you plan on watching anything in HiDef.

wow, apparently a lot of people are rigging DVD players (not DVD-ROM drives necessarily) to LCD projectors with excellent results. For about $1000 it seems like you can get an enormous screen size with excellent picture resolution.

good call by rbV5 about AVS forums, mad props!

it seems like a ton of people are crazy about the Infocus X1. I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for a good deal, a few weeks ago they could be had for $800 after rebates!
