As in anything herbal that will clean out all the toxins and "crap" (also literally I guess :) )

The stuff I saw at the local Riteaid also cleanses the blood and liver. Is it worth the $50.00 to do?

A co-worker of mine said he did. He said he shit his brains out for a week, but felt really energized and healthy afterwards.

Use this:
http://www.allstarhealth.com/f...way-psyllium_husks.htm

Follow the dosage/instructions on the bottle. The first time I used it, I passed a HUGE amount crap in one day, and then it dropped off to steady, "good quality" (medically speaking) craps. I take it every morning with breakfast.

It's also one of the few remedies with scientific backing, and it's a hell of a lot less expensive.

As for cleaning the blood and liver, there are herbs and chemicals out there that can improve liver/blood/immune system health, but once again, these are way cheaper than $50 and don't "cleanse" anything per-se. They can help the liver function better which will improve it's natural "cleansing" function, but the chemical doesn't directly cleanse anything.

If you are looking for something long term, think about getting an infrared sauna. They allow you to sweat out toxins that are stored in your fat.

I am already taking Metamucil on a daily basis, as I am getting old and decrepit (sp ?) :) and it has Psyllium as well, but it's not working like it was in the beginning. I just feel overall in poor health and just blah...so I want something that will rejuvenate me.

Yeah, stop eating all the toxins and crap and your system will be clean.

some people at work did a 36hr cleansing diet. Basically fruit smoothies with some herbal powder for every meal.

They could definitely tell a difference after

Regular exercise will probably do the most in that regard. It'll burn the fat that stores/secretes a lot of the toxins. Also, fat secretes estrogen, so burning it will improve everything from a purely masculine perspective.

Eat more fruit. It produces energy.

I think the herbs you're looking for are what are known as "adaptogens" (things that help the body adapt/relieve stress)

Some of the more widely used are

If you want to improve liver function, Milk Thistle is the way to go.

If you can't find them in a health store, you can probably find them here:
http://www.allstarhealth.com/

I've used this place for a while, prices are good, and they've never missed a shipment.

Also, when buying herbal stuff, stick to the name-brands (GNC, Nature's Way, etc) They use higher quality ingredients and have better absorption rates then the vast majority of the "cheaper" supplier. The absorption rates of the latter are typically between 20-60%. The name brands generally have 80% and above.
