Has anyone ever tried any tooth whitening products?

Has anyone here tried a tooth whitening product and if so, which one and did it or didn't it work?

There are a bunch on the market now and i don't think those whitening chewing gum or whitening tooth paste really work. What about the other new products? I heard that bleaching the teeth causes the enamel to wear and that it wasn't good. Any thoughts?

thanks

Some girls at work got "Brite Smile" and their teeth are freakin WHITE! I think it's done at an office and costs like $500...but in these economic times who knows. I know they got a deal from one of their dentists and got it for like half or something.

I asked the dentist and she recommended the white strips over the gel. She said to make sure you use a toothpick and get the white strips in the gap between your teeth or else your teeth will become striped, lol.

Oh yea - look closely in the mirror and see how "thick" the enamel of your teeth are - she told me mine were incredibly thin (and looking closer in the mirror after, she was right - I could see my toothbrush behind my two front teeth (partially)) and if you tried to whiten thin enamel'ed teeth that your teeth would turn gray

Wait did you just say that your two front teeth are partially _see through_ in that you could put your toothbrush behind your teeth and actually see through them to the brush...? WTF!

err that kinda came out wrong...like I can see the color of the toothbrush partially behind my teeth....it's not like see through like a tinted window or anything. Only on the very tips of my teeth (also on the bottom row of my teeth, not just my two front ones)

Ya, i didn't understand that part too well either. Maybe someone can explain that. So far people like the white strips which are expensive. How do those work?

No, I'm not that vain.

Is that why you don't brush your teeth?

No, I brush everyday, at least once, to prevent decay and freshen breath. I don't care if they're they're sparkling white or not.
I bet your wife would 😉

I used Crest Whitestrips for a month, and noticed considerable improvement in whiteness. They're not as easy to wear as they claim. You need to wear them 2x daily for 30 minutes, and if you do anything to generate saliva (speak, lick lips, swallow, etc) the damn things just slide off.

Ah i'm constantly generating saliva so maybe they wouldn't be so good for me 🙁 One day I'll pay for a real breaching from a dentist I think.

Just brush your damn teeth people, its not that hard! 😛

THat won't make your teeth white. I think the natural colour is slightly off white. It also depends on the type of food you eat or what you drink regularly.

Before I moved out here, I worked for Rembrandt. Their products work pretty well. They have some nice OTC products and you can get your teeth whitened with their products at their dentist. If you use their OTC toothpaste, I reccommend either Age Defying or the Plus one that they have out. If you use it twice a day every day you can get up to like 5 shades whiter. I don't, however, reccommend the Quick White. I tried it and I don't like the little trays that come with it.

A friend of mine tried the Crest White Strips and that seemed to work really well for her.

EDIT:

If you do the one hour bleaching, I really recommend the Rembrandt one. The other bleach systems emit harmful UV rays and Rembrandt doesn't. You have to wear a face mask and sunscreen with the other ones. Yuck.

I used whitening toothpaste for a while, has a nasty taste and didn't work. My teeth are still stained from drink all that tea.

whitening toothpaste does nothing more then normal toothpaste. it scrubs the surface, if a stain is on the surface, it scrubs away. thats not gonna whiten 99% of teeth.

I'm using Crest Night Effects now and tonight will be #5. My teeth definitely feel smoother, like that "after the dentist" feeling. It's hard to tell if my teeth have changed yet. It seems like they have, but that could definitely just be my imagination.

That's not necessarily true. I know that some of the Rembrant toothpastes contains Carbamide Peroxide. "Regular" toothpaste doesn't. The particles in the toothpaste are a lot smaller than in other toothpastes so they aren't as abrasive to your teeth, so that helps. Plus, the peroxide is what helps bleach.
