Has anyone ever signed a work email with your AT name?

I sent an email to a coworker today and as I am so used to putting "-spike" at the end of my posts I signed the email that way. It was a reply so there was no auto-signature as usual so it really stuck out. Lukily it was not another manager so my embarrasment is somewhat less than it could have been. I explained to her that I sometimes post on a message board and that was my handle. She seemed to accept that without thinking I was too crazy...

Anyone else done this? What happened?

the more important question is why do you end your posts with your username? DO you think we might doubt its really posted by the user whose account posted it?

With a name like "spike", it's easily passed off as something humerous. Demon-Xanth would be rather difficult.

It was a stupid habit I picked up a while ago and have a hard time getting rid of it.

EDIT** There you go, I did it!!! ;)

I'd think you'd have been better off not drawing attention to it.

"Hey what that -Spike thing at the end of your email"
"Nothing"
"Okay" *forgets all about it*

Lol, if one of the people in my office wrote that... man, that would be freaking funny. You would get some pretty funny looks.

A guildmate of mine in WoW always signs her forum posts with her player/forum name and apparently sent out an email to her entire team at work signed with her player/forum name.

Unfortunatly I did not notice this until she sent an email back with:

"Spike? what is that!?!?"

I could have ignored it but she is not the type of person to let something like this drop without some explanation.

One time I was fooling around at work and put "Lord" right before my name in a note. Then I was contacted by my boss for something. Made a few phone calls, got stuff sorted out and then wrote the response in the same window to my boss and sent it. She didn't seem to notice, whew!

You should be more embarrassed for putting "-spike" at the end of every post. The forum software aligns your name on the right of your post already.

For the record, no, never messed-up like you did.

I've often wondered why people "sign" their posts. Seems goofy.
