I'm using netscape at the moment and I clicked on the link and I have a blank page. There's not much strategy there with a blank page.

I have played it and was the leader on the group that came out #1 out of 6 groups of 4

Biggest thing is someone is going to F up big time and the game will not kick them out so they sell below cost. The best way is to NOT expand to much. Only expand a LITTLE then buy other groups plants out for next to nothing.
Also go not go after endorsments right away. There will be at least 2 teams that OVER pay way to much. Work on efficeny and cost. Then near the middle or end go after the low key people that you can get cheap.

What happens is at the end its not who sells the most but who is the most effiecnt.

the best business strategy is to fire Omarosa immediately before she can cause too much damage.

You really think so? The new version is harder, but the old version was easy to destroy. I'd buy company after company and liquidate them and then do an extraordinary dividend. Then I'd put it all into bonds and watch the computer struggle to come up with 1/200 of my 4 billion dollar networth.

Are you kidding me, you play this too? I thought I was one of the last few people playing this game (the last DOS release btw - still not crazy about the Windows version). Ive even talked on the phone to the owner / programmer once.

The only problem w/extraordinary dividends is that you get a big tax bite. The best way to reach $1,000,000,000+ quickly is to acquire the bank that loans you money in the game or a bank of one of your large companies. Make a capital contribution w/ all the money you can after the 4th quarter earnings announcement. After the company reports sharply higher net income in the first quarter, borrow as much money as can. Usually if you already have a lot of money you can borrow $1e+6 or so (I always use scientific notation to get over the field constraints). This will balloon the banks business and the stock will SKYROCKET. Lets say you spend $100m to buy the bank, after that you can sell it for usually $500m to $1 billion+.

OH YES, if you also happen to own a large company like IBM or Exxon and bonds are above 80, sell them short buy issuing junk bonds PRIOR to doing this. Since the bank will have to sell its bond portfolio and borrow federal funds this will/may cause bonds to fall below 50, allowing your company buy back them back at a steep discont and keep the difference! Sell the bank stock BEFORE you payback the loan!

If you are also using the DOS version like I am, you can manipulate the entire game buy controlling the GNP rate or TAX rate (you learn something after 13 years ;) ). The way to do this is open windows explorer, open raider and load your saved game. Before the game is completely loaded, press the pause key. You will notice a new file called "oldgame.txt". You can edit this file. Its mostly numbers but after awile of studying it will make sense to you. Some fun things to do are set the GNP to 200% or so. That will cause interest rates to hit 70 or 80% causing many companies to go broke. After the weak have fallen the remaining companies will benefit for several quarters as new demand for their prodcuts is met. You can also set your opponents cash balance to a negative amount leaving him damn near broke allowing you to get away with MURDER! :) He will be unable to sue your companies for monopolistic influence or challenge you or do just plain squat!

The world is yours baby! :wine:
