For those of you who have lost a lot of weight whch brings you "in range" as termed by the US government, did it lower your blood pressure or lower your beats per minute?

Yes and Yes. Do you workout/play sports and such? Has your diet modified any?

Yes, I work out all the time, and my diet is modified to healthy :)

I lost 75 pounds over the past year, and my pulse is slowing down a bit. I want it to slow down more, I have 20 pounds to go before being a "healthy" BMI.

I've lost over 100 pounds since April 2005. I was 358 and now I'm around 250 (i'm 6'4) I still got a good 40 or 50 pounds to go but I constantly monitor my heart rate. I cant say its lowered my blood pressure, I'm always stressed so it stays borderline. As for heart rate it definately lowers your heart rate for just every day activities like walking. I'm not sure about my resting heart rate, but I do know if you start taking your cardio to the extreme it will lower your resting heart rate. I read somewhere that Lance Armstrong has a very low BPM compared to the average human being.

I have a cousin that went from 380LBs to 150LBs via a gastric bypass surgery. Talk about an OMFG! transformation.

Not sure what you mean by "in range as termed by the us government" but I've lost weight twice in my life. In the 3 months between 8th and 9th grade I lost about 70lbs and experienced dramatic changes in health as a result (lowered heart rate being one, though I don't know about my blood pressure back then).

Currently I've lost 40lbs (with 40 more to go) since September 1st and have noticed only slightly lowered heart rate, though other health symptoms are improving including blood pressure (though only slightly thus far).

Probably means BMI/body mass index, but I don't think that has anything to do with the US government, more the WHO.

I went from having 'a bit of a belly' to being 'way way too thin' by going clubbing all the time. Didn't help my heart at all.

When I joined the army reserves, I went from 250lbs to 190 within 3 months.

When I went to residence, I went from 200lbs to 240 within 4.

Gotcha. That would explain why I didn't understand it, since BMI is so completely faulty that I never remain aware of its existence for long.

I lost 70 pounds between March and December of 2001, but I didn't really keep track of my blood pressure or heart rate at the time (I was 16 and probably didn't care as much about it as I should have).

Right now I'm about 45 pounds down from where I was last summer (2005), 25 of those pounds having been lost since late August or early September of this year, and I think my pulse is a bit lower, but my blood pressure still isn't great (high blood pressure kinda runs in the family apparently :(). Still feel a lot better now than I have in a long time though. :)

ive lost 20 lbs several times in my life, but not any more than that.

i think its the exercise more than anything that made me healthier though. the weight loss was a side effect of the exercsise

I lost 35 pounds in 3 days once. Went from severe hypertension to normal blood pressure within minutes.

I went from 200 to 170 in 6 weeks, through a 1000 calorie diet and intense cardio, like 2 hours a day on the treadmill ranging from fast walking to jogging pace. I used to die trying to walk uphill on campus, but losing the weight really helped overall.

I dropped 60 lbs recently. Yes, BP and heartrate both drop. My resting heartbeat is now 72, when it used to be 100. No more heart palpitations either. Not to mention many other benefits. Health and appearance. And confidence! I used to hang my fat head in shame, now I'm a cocky bastard. Girls wish they could have this. :)

I've lost 60 lbs from Feb to today. Went from 282 to 222. My BP hovered around 150/100 and now it's 134/72. I'm 6'0" and come from a long line of stocky Germans so I'm hoping to get to 200 and I'll be pretty happy. Then I'll try to build up some lean muscle to increase my metabolism a bit, maybe even get back into basketball shape.

My BP used to be really bad 6 years ago at 160/110. I only weighed about 220 but I smoked a pack a day and drank 6 Mt. Dews a day.

Now I've been smoke free for 3 years and only drink one Diet Dew per day.

COW (abbreviation, no pun intended), we sound very similar. Same height, same weight. And yes, Diet Dew! Although, I'm down to about one a week now. Water helps with the weight loss, so I drink it all day.

i lost 25lbs, not as much as most, over the course of 6 months, through 2 hours a week swimming, 2 hours tennis, and 2 hours cycling. didnt really change the diet, but i dont overeat.
