Has anyone ever had their tires slashed?

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I awoke in the morning only to find two tires on the drivers side of my vehicle flat. After calling on a co-worker to help me out with his air compressor, I discovered a puncture in each one. To add to the excitement, the vehicle parked next to me(Jeep) had all four slashed and the one next to that(truck) had the front two slashed. When talking to the police, he assumed that one of us had "pissed" someone off. I socialized with virtually nobody in town other than the people I work with and I'm sure that none of them would do this. The owner of the Jeep just moved in two months ago and the owner of the truck is the former building owner who doesn't live in town anymore. I'm wondering if this whole mess is a random act of vandalism or if I was an actual target. The vandal cut him/herself while in the act and left blood on the rim of several vehicles. The officer took a sample, but unless he/she is a convicted felon, there is little chance of an arrest. Anyway.....has anything like this happened to any of you in the past?

One of the benefits to living in a poor neighborhood is never having to worry about car vandalism. It only seems to happen in fringe areas or, commercial areas.

I have had the air let out of all four tires one night, never slashed though.

Once. It sucked too because it was on my 84 Mustang GT back in '88 or '89. That car used Canadian metric tires that had to be ordered at like $150 each (probably $250 in today's dollars). It was one of those "expensive, but not expensive enough to claim on insurance" deals.

yes. i lived in a crap part of town at the time in an ok apartment complex. this happened one or two weeks before christmas that year. at least 6-8 cars all in our row had at least one of their tires slashed. we were extra lucky and got two on my vehicle. yay!

the cop we called said the same thing as the tire shop guy told killster1, probably a gang initiation thing and had very little to do with someone actually targeting us.

Never had it happen to me. And from the sound of it, it seems like some punk kids and not some targeting of you OP. Unless you posted in the "person you despise thread."

Yes. I parked on the street to visit a friend prior to 4th of July fireworks. When we came out to walk to the park to watch the fireworks, a crazy lady in a wheel chair of the house where I parked yelled at me and told me I can't park there and that spot belongs to her. It was street parking and she was entirely wrong about the law. She said she was calling the cops. I encouraged her to do so. Later, someone from her house came and slashed my tires (according to witnesses -- I wasn't there). It took the cops a long time to come and talk to me when I called them, and then they went and talked to her and she claimed that she didn't know the guy. The cop was actually fairly miffed because she had helped the lady on numerous occasions with things.

That sucks. It sounds like kids being stupid. When there is nothing to do, kids often do stupid stuff..

Fortunately I haven't run into this. I have a long driveway which makes it more risky to do such things.

My sister had a mid/early '80s Mustang GT T-top that had the tires slashed around '88/'89. I doubt the rims were metric though. ;)

Yeah. I used to leave my car parked on a nearby road, as I didn't have a parking space at my apartment.

One late evening I went to my car, and went to drive off, and the car wouldn't move. Turned it off and looked. All 4 tires were flat, and I later found knife marks in each one.

I went back home, and I looked at the rest of the cars parked on the street. Every single one had 4 flat tires, so I went round the corner - every single one had 4 flats.

Cops weren't interested. Didn't want to even take a report.

I had a guy bust out the drivers side window in my car once. Blood all over the outside of the door. He needed more practice imo.

No, but my roommate in college had his brake lines cut. Near as we could tell it was just a random act of assholery.

There usually is not random acts of assholery, just assholes that didn't know they had it coming.
