Has anyone ever gotten a lump of coal for Xmas

I remember one year I had threatened my son all year with him only getting a lump of coal for Christmas.

When I opened my present from him there was a big old lump of coal in a nice box. I think his mother put him up to it.

Why would anyone want such a filthy fossil fuel that can't be phased out of the energy market fast enough?

A burning rock was probably a pretty cool thing when people first discovered it. My stove has coal irons, but I've never used them. It's been setup for wood the whole time.

I've been tempted to put some coal in the kids stockings along with the standard suffers to remind them that the threat of receiving coal is real.

"That would have been another present sweetie but, Santa didn't like that you hit your brother last week..."

If I just build in that deep, irresolvable feeling of inadequacy and sadness in my children, then they will excel in life! It sorta worked for me!

I know a couple guys that put in coal burning furnaces in the last 10yrs or so. Another guy i work with has one also though not sure how long he's had it.
