If so, how much did it cost, how was your experience, and did your insurance plan cover it?

What did he have treated? I understand it can be used both for hair loss (men?) and treating cystic pimples.

Um, if it is the same shot that I am thinking about it is used for joints andstuff like that. My dad had corporaltunnel syndrome and they gave him cortizone shots to ease the pain. They do well for a while, but eventually wear off.

Btw, his insurance covered it.

My roomy had this bad shoulder pain. His cat is always sleeping on his arm, when in bed.
He went to the doctor and they would not give him a shot. Wanted to do x-rays, surgery if needed, all that krapola (you know HMO's).

He ask a different doctor, that handles his hbp and blood stuff, and that doctor wrote him a prescription to his HMO doctor for the shot. He then got the shot (a little doctor wars there).

His shoulder pain went away, and has stayed away for 6 months now.

I had two : One in my shoulder and one in the bottom of my foot. The shoulder shot didnt hurt too much, just a little burning(It tastes like burning!) I guess thats because the muscle is so big. Now, my foot , which had plantar fasciitis was just miserable. They gave me the shot right in the heel and it hurt like a mofo for a good hour or so. Insurance covered both cases, so I do not know what the cost would have been out of pocket.

I think that cortisone shots only mask a problem. For instance, my foot. All I had to do to get rid of the pain was some stretching excercises whenever I felt the pain coming back and it goes away pretty fast. My shoulder/neck area was cured by getting one of those ergonomic pillows and a dental guard. It seems that I grind my teeth so hard that I give myself neck pain.

Peace

i've had a few cortisone shots for moderately severe powerlifting injuries
that aren't healing.

the injections hurt a bit, but the results have always been good.
our insurance covered them.

Yes, two for carpal tunnel, they stung but they weren't too bad. Unfortunately they wore off.
My father has had 2 in his shoulder for bursits. They helped him a lot. My mother has had several in her foot, but they didn't help much. She said those ones hurt pretty bad.
Insurance picked up the cost.

I was unable to raise my arm to shake hands. I previously had spinal fusion and thought "Here we go again!" Doctor looked at xrays and said no further deteriation. Shot in arm (Cortizone) and when I left office, wind blew hat off my head and I grabbed it with bad arm. It has been 2 years and no bad things to report. Insurance covered. (BCBS)

I had a bunch of shots for my plantar fasciitis. The doctor injected it directly into my heel. It was painless and was covered by my insurance.

The shots were fantastic. I was suffering pretty badly and after a month of treatments, it went away completely and I have been free of pain since.

<---Same pain (Tendinitis) same result.

BTW: The shot itself hurt like a SOB!
