Has Anyone Ever Got a Job Through Monster.com?

I have had my resume up there for years, even when I am not actively looking, only had spam from resume builders.

When I was looking, I appled for dozens of jobs - never once had a response. My friends have had similar experience using it.

So....has anyone out there actually got a job from Monster?

I've gotten a couple of Interviews and could've landed a job as recently as February through it but I wasn't too thrilled with the job prospect of glowing like Homer Simpson (Nuclear job) when I get home.

I would really like any feedback if anyone has landed a job directly or indirectly from the Networking thread locked at the top.

my sister did (she's in the biology field) (it wasn't a great job though, she left after a few months), and I almost did (got the interview, got the job offer, turned it down because the pay offered was terrible).

Put my resume on Monster.com in March of 2001 - In under 24 hours I had a call from a Lockheed Martin recruiting agent asking to fly me down to the DC Metro area for an interview. He told me if I knew anyone else with a resume like mine to tell him to call him and he would give them an interview too. Both me and my friend are currently employed by Lockheed Martin 🙂

Of course LMT was hiring a lot of people at that time. Don't know if the same can be said today.

2001 ... wasn't the job market still ok back then? Ah the good old days.

No, I graduated at the time when the .com's were all failing. 2001 was the END of the good times. Every company I went to (.com or not) said they were on a hiring freeze and some said they were laying off people. Luckily I got in with LMT.

End of 2000 was the .com bust

Submitted my resume to countless companies and the only time i've been contacted back was for a pyramid scheme type place... 😱

You should ask your other classmates, friends, family, people who you know in your field and anyone else who is relevent whom they would recommend as a recruiter for your field. There are some good recruiters out there among all the rest that seem to be just a plain waste of cells.

all my friends have goten temp jobs or full time jobs that went to monster except for me, I guess I got no skills. 🙁

I signed up for monster.com after hearing from my friends that they got lucky. After I had signed up, my friend was looking for a job as well and I told him to sign up for monster.com and within a week he got a call to work a temp job making 16 an hour. I've never had such luck.

Nope....

LiQice what did your resume look like? What prior experience did you have? Just wondering out of curiosity cause the majority of the ppl on AT haven't gotten jack from monster.com. I'm guessing you really know your sh!t or was in the right place at the right time?

My wife got a job at Eli Lilly straight out of school thanks to Monster.com.

on the flip side, in the last 6 months, I've probably sent my resume or applications to at least 50 job listings on Monster with little more than a few "no thanks" letters

Well, my job experience included 5 years of working experience (all part time while I was in high school / college, but all IT related), and I maintained a 3.3 or so GPA ...

You can look at my resume here: Link

It hasn't been updated in awhile and is pretty close to what I submitted to Monster.com (only change is the job at Lockheed, and my contact info ...) ... btw thats not my phone # anymore, so I wouldn't recommend calling to look for me 🙂
