Has anyone ever done a entire ThermalRight HeatSink Round-Up?

How different are all the models exactly, its really getting annoying. Considering the all look almost the same but have a $14 price difference! :p

that's a pretty gross oversimplification. all of the Thermalright products are good. some are simply better than others. the sk-6+ is great as a low cost solution for fairly cool processors. the SK-7 performs close enough to the SLK-700 that the 700 isn't really worth it. the AX-7 is great, but i would rather spend the extra for an SLK-800, myself. the SLK-800 and 900 are very close in performance. since the SLK-800U came out, i don't think there is really any need for the SLK-900 in most situations, as the 800 can accomodate most 92mm fans with no problem. for my needs, however, Swiftech is better than all of them ;).

I can't think of a bad "newer" heatsink by Thermaltight. I'd rank them as follows:

SLK900
SLK800

All the below are very close:

SK-7
SLK700
SLK600
AX-7

Any of the above will do you darn well.

Then the lower end, still better than most others:

SK-6+
SK-6

And that is a very reliable source.

I stand by my statement...........

Thermalright SLK900: 0.22 5500 rpm Vantec 80mm fan
Thermalright SLK800: 0.23 5500 rpm Vantec 80mm fan; 55 dBA
Thermalright SLK-800U: 0.23 5500 rpm Vantec 80mm fan; 55 dBA

Thermalright SK7: 0.25 5500 rpm Vantec 80mm fan; 55 dBA (the best deal of the bunch IMO)

Thermalright AX478: 0.27 Delta 80mm
Thermalright SK6+: 0.28 Delta 60mm, 7000 rpm, high noise
Thermalright AX-7: 0.28 Delta 80mm
Thermalright SLK600: 0.29 Delta 38 cfm, socket A/370
Thermalright SLK700: 0.29 TMD fan, socket A/370

They just mean that the heatsink gives off no sound. It's the fans that create the noise.

Does everyone here overclock? Because if not, the stock CPU cooler is actually adequate. I use the stock Pentium 4 cooler that came with my CPU and it keeps the CPU around 45 degrees C idle and no more than 53 degrees C under load. It is very quiet too, since it runs at 2000 RPM. I would only bother with an "aftermarket" heatsink if I were planning to overclock. There really is no benefit to keeping your CPU "super cool"; as long as you keep it within the safe operating range and leave some headroom, your system will run fine. Just an alternative for those of you who may wanna save some money. :)

What stock cooler are you talking about?!
2000 RPM?! That doesn't sound like stock...4000 does. Not quiet.
IMO, Quiet = cannot be heard at all from more than two feet away.

My P4 cooler spins at 2K RPM, and no I do not have a fan controller on it or anything. Obviously you'll hear the fan if it is on and you are in the same room as your PC...for me quiet is where it is a subtle and low sound, not shrill or wooshing. Quiet is subjective.

why doesnt TomsHardware ever review Thermalright???

they did a huge heatsink roundup but they dont review a single Thermalright heatsink??

IMHO the Thermalrights would 0wn that roundup!
