well i have. i tried to get in on the sony g400 deal which i read about over in the hot deal forum. i placed my order for the g400, and also placed an order for a 20gb 5400rpm maxtor hard drive. now... before i added the hd to my shopping cart, the shipping for the monitor alone was $25. after adding the hd to the shopping cart, it was $33. so fast forward a few days... scott over from CDW calls and leaves me a voice mail to let me know that the g400 was actually out of stock. thats fine with me... a lot of ppl in the thread already mentioned that something like this will happen, so i was not shocked. scott also asked me if i still wanted the hard drive. so i call him back, and he was not there, so i left him a voice mail. basically, i told him that i would like to know how much shipping would cost and asked him to call me back. scott calls me back later that day and leaves me a voice mail saying "shipping for that 20gb maxtor is $17. yeah that thing is heavy." WTF have u been smoking?! or better question, WTF does CDW use to pack hd's? lead peanuts?! thats the biggest load of BS ever. shipping for a 50+lbs monitor is $25, but for a hd that is roughly 3lbs costs $17? i would not have expected CDW to pull these scumbag tactics used by many of the shady pricewatch e-tailers. yes so... anyway... end rant. :disgust:

EDIT - just sent an email to scott... it went something like this:

scott,

hi, i just got the voice mail you left for me. when i placed my order for the g400 and the hard drive, i chose UPS Ground for shipping. if the g400 was in stock, shipping for both the monitor and the hard drive was calculated to be $33.85. but before i checked out with those two items, i almost checked out with just the g400 alone, and UPS Ground shipping on that 50+lbs monitor alone was in the neighborhood of $25.xx. now imagine my surprise when i heard that shipping for the hard drive was $17.

you mentioned in the voice mail that the hard drive is heavy. i beg to differ. if the hard drive is OEM, then the most it could possibly weigh is 2lbs. in full retail packaging, maybe in the neighborhood of 5lbs. anyway, i'm sure it's the company that computes these shipping prices. but if CDW is going to try to bend me over and violate me on shipping, it's really not necessary for you make up excuses for CDW's ridiculous shipping prices.

please go ahead and cancel my order. thank you.

That sure doesn't sound like CDW, perhaps Scott made a mistake somewhere along the line.
Anyhow, that is pretty crazy.

I only use them at work b/c they can deal w/ my purchasing department. They screwed up a RMA/exchange on a hd. Took them 1.5 months to get me a replacement drive. On the bright side, I got two back;)

I ordered from them once, for my P900 monitor, I called them they quoted me $220, I asked if they could sell it for $190, and they did.

They're shipping prices are all messed up, it seems like they charge a $10 handling fee plus shipping.

I got in on that Compaq P90 monitor deal a while back at CDW. I had a bad monitor and called them up to get a replacement. They told me I had to go through Compaq for a new monitor and send the old monitor back to CDW. It took 1.5 months before CDW got the monitor back!
Their RMA department is a total joke. I kept getting RMA Authorization emails that said Fedex would pick the monitor up 3 days after Fedex was already there!

Once they did get the monitor back I got a prompt refund. My CSR (Mark Spizzel or something) told me I could get free shipping on another monitor if I wanted. I'm definitely NOT taking him up on that offer.
