Has anyone ever been to one of those photography places where you get old-fashioned photos done?

My friends and family used to stop in at this place at the coast every time we had a beach vacation (once a month, nearly?). You could do old westerns, 20's mobsters, victorian era lords and ladies, dark ages knights and kings and queens, etc.

I always liked the old western ones. Wearing spurs, a duster, a black Stetson w/ a rifle and a gunbelt just feels really damn good

I got a picture like that when I was little. I was partial to old west back then. I think I'd go for the mobster photo now.

They have the western style ones at this Tweetsie railroad here but I have never seen the others you mentioned. The dark age themed ones might be kind of cool.

I remember my parents got a western style one done the last time we went to Hershey Park (~8 years ago), but I've never myself had one.

It's especially fun when you get to dress up like the king and your girlfriend is on her hands and knees in pesant rags scrubbing the floor. Put one foot up on her back, fists at your waste with your velvet robes flowing over your shoulders, gut in, chest out, shoulders back, golden crown on your head, and a big ass grin on your face while she's scrubbing away makes for some interesting christmas cards :D

I remember going to some tourist trap up in the Colorado rockies... I think it was called Buckskin Joe. My family and I were sitting on a bench eating ice cream watching the employees of an old west photo shop across the street hustling tourists into their store. They were dressed like stage coach bandits and would rush out and "kidnap" unaware family members and escort them into the store to have their picture taken.

It was pretty entertaining to see people tricked into paying for a Polaroid picture of their family sticking their heads through holes in a plywood sheet. The biggest fools were the ones who paid to don costumes to have their pictures done in an "authentic" western set.

If you were in a big city and some gang members rushed out of a store and told you to come in and spend some money, you'd run for your life.

Seems like there is no way they could do that now-a-days without getting shot lol.

Yes, Zedtom, but the way the photography store did it was pretty smart! The clientelle has the choice to say no to going into the store. They also have a choice about getting their picture taken. It's not a hustle, it's a pretty creative way to do it. I'd say the costumes made it viable. If a company employee did that in slacks, a polo shirt, and a name tag, I bet the customers would shew them away. The costumes make it fun. It's a way to show your customers "hey! Our store is fun!" and immediately captures the customer's interest. Hook, line, and sinker. There's no better way to make money than capturing a customer's interest, promoting excitement about your product, and having the customer feel good about it after making the purchase.

I don't think there were any nefarious schemes involved. It was all in good fun. Come to think of it, my family went there to be entertained, and we were.

You can PM it to me. ;) Each place I've found has a different setting with different costume props. I love seeing the different setups, westerns especially!

P.S. Stop talking about your panties and bra size, you're derailing my thread, dammit!!

Mine's from when I was about 13 or so. It's at my mothers. If this thread is still active next time I'm at moms, I'll scan and post it.
