Has anyone ever banked with Natl. City

My wife needs to set up a separate acct. for direct deposit and Natl. City has a free acct. w/o a min. Balance requirement. We won't use it for anything else.

Does anyone have any bad stories about Natl. City or reasons not to bank w/them?

 

I haven't used National City, but Bank One's One Checking account is also free with Direct Deposit. And there are Bank Ones all over my city. I like them.

Thanks. Just checked them out and it shows a $5/mo. service fee. Natl. City has free checking right now.

I use National City and I couldn't be happier with them. Their customer service is top notch. When I had a billing problem with Cingular's online bill payment (I paid online, they deducted the money, then denied I paid them and demanded I show them the paper check ), a National City CS rep got them on a three way call with me and dared them to deny they received payment... then went on and told them how stupid they were to think a paper check had to change hands for an electronic payment. It was like a female Dirty Harry moment.

They've earned my business for life.
