Has anyone enlisted

Has anyone enlisted in the Army, the Reserves, or your state's National Guard since the attacks? And if so, was it because of the attacks? I've been thinking about joining the National Guard, but am still weighing the pros and cons. They will pay for grad school, so that's a big plus, but basic scares the living piss out of me.

Not yet, but sadly enough I know many people at my school (including teachers) that are ready to enlist if necessary.

Don't rush into things...Patriotism is high and I believe that military support is very important, but you don't want to get in there and wish you hadn't- that won't accomplish anything.

I agree with all of you and realize that basic wouldn't be until next summer... I agree that my current desire to join is partly due to the attacks this week, but it would also be nice to have a free ride to grad school. Just reaching out for opinions.
