Has anyone else stopped reading PC/computer articles online? *POLL*

I used to read the anandtech articles, THG, and H[OCP] all the time. Lately i haven't really been caring about hardware that's just come out. LGA775 and 5xx,6xx,and 7xx P4's aren't all that great, DDR2 isn't all that great, PCI-express isn't too good itself. There seem to be way too many problems with SLI, 64-bit never took off.

With graphics cards, there's too many models and platnium editions, special editions, GT, XT, XE, SE, of the same card. It's getting really annoying to keep up with all the different versions now i just stopped reading all together.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I really only read them when I'm shopping for new hardware and need info so I know what to buy.

Yeah I go through swings every two years or so. I will be all up to date and then not research until I'm ready to buy again.

I've been getting sick of seeing miniscule preformance increases for hardware costing hundreds of dollars more. Granted, computers have always had a penchant for that, but it seems to be getting worse. When I bought my Radeon 9700 Pro for $300, a little over 2 years ago, it was basically top-of-the-line and still runs just about anything. Now people are dropping $500+ on vid cards so they can run bloated games on sh1tty engines 5 fps faster? Fvck that.

What I'm sick of is the dip in quality of articles on many tech websites, including Anandtech. The new editor-in-chief needs to take a technical writing class. Furthermore, the idea of publishing blogs on AT is a sign of dwindling ideas. I was looking through the "article" on time travel, and wasted 10 valuable seconds figuring out that it was a joke. To be honest, I read Tom's Hardware much more now, because they at least have an article or two out every weekday. Also, I won't bother writing disclaimers such as "I totally respect Anand, etc etc." because I feel that's been established. Frankly, I find the forums here more entertaining nowadays.

I only ever read them when I wanted to upgrade. But now I rarely even upgrade, so I don't look at them much at all.
