Has anyone else read George R.R. Martin's non-Fire & Ice publications?

My fiance and I already preordered "A Feast for Crows," and I was wondering if anyone's read any of his other books besides the "Song of Fire and Ice" series?

How was "A Song for Lya," "The Hedge Knight," "Fevre Dream," etc.? Are they any good/worth purchasing?

The hedge knight? Wasn't that a short story set in the Song of Fire and Ice world? It was good anyways.

Looks like it's a graphic novel, and yes I believe it's supposed to happen slightly pre-SOFI. Is it worth buying and adding to a book collection? :)

I've read most of his stuff. IMHO the best book was The Armageddon Rag, a must read for any Martin fan, any music fan or any Tolkien fan. It's likely out of print, but you can surely find a copy on Half.com, a used bookstore or a library.

IMHO, it was good. It happened like 300 years or so before the main SOFI story arc. I have a short story collection called "Ledgends" that has a whole bunch of good ones (A short from Stephen King, in the Dark Tower universe, the G.R.R Martin, one by Terry Goodkind [Sword of Truth], an Earthsea one, a Wheel of Time one, etc)

Fantasy/SciFi genre (slightly reminiscent of McCaffrey's Pern in that aspect) and it was written in the early 80s i believe.

I've read as much as GRRM's old stuff that I can get my hands on, but that isn't saying much, since I've only been able to get my hands on one book! I've read Dying of the Light, which is a fairly decent sci-fi novel. I would really like to read A Song for Lya, Fevre Dream, and Armageddon Rag.

Of his newer stuff, I've read all the SOIAF books thus far. I've read Windhaven, which I found a little off, but that was probably due to the co-author and not GRRM. Because of that I've steered clear of GRRM's collaborative work with the Wild Cards series.

I've read both of the Hedge Knight short stories, found in Legends and Legends II. Those were great. I might take a look at the Hedge Knight graphic novels, if I ever have time.

Best book... better than any in the SOFI series?!

So "The Hedge Knight" series comes in both regular story and graphic novel form? I think I may have just accidentally ordered the graphic one instead of the regular one... uh oh :(

I meant best of the ones that were not in the SOFI series. It was my favorite Martin novel until the SOFI books came along.

I liked "Fevre Dream" quite a bit, but "Dying of the Light" wasn't fleshed out enough IMO
