Has anyone else had problems with 192.168.x.x subnet and ICS?

I set up a small ICS 2k and 98 network in my families house.
2k box had 2 100mb nics, one netgeat and one 3com.
And I setup everything to work with the 192.168.0.1 subnet.
And it worked for a short time, then had some problems, then it would present strang problems.
For example, if I rebooted the 2k box that was the gateway, the 2000 box would not have network access and it was appearing that it was trying to access the LAN for network resources.
So I would disable the LAN, then my cable access would work again, then I reenable the LAN and it works.
The second machine is a 98se box, with a netgear NIC.

To resolve the problems, I switched to a 10.10.10.x subnet and it works fine now.

Has anyone else had similar issues before?

I use the 192.168.x.x with my ICS without any problem. I have one NIC set to the fixed IP I obtained from cable company, another set to 192.168.0.1. On my other Win2K (laptop) I just simply set enable DHCP, without any further setting (I have to carry around the laptop and plug into network at various places). Everything works fine. On the laptop, it gets an IP in the same subnet, DNS, gateway, DHCP server are all set to 192.168.0.1

I have everything linksys, 2 PCI 10/100 NICs, one 10/100 hub, one 10/100 PCMCIA, but I don't think hardware would matter.
