Has anyone else had internet connection problems tonight?

I'm running DSL and all my speedtests comback great. However, I'm dropping a lot of packets.... I think they're being lost somewhere past my service provider, but I was wondering if it might be a more global internet issue from one of the major backbones. I just got disconnected from playing CS and many webpages load slowly or have failing links. It wasn't like this at 5pm today so it's gone downhill in the last couple of hours.

All major backbone providers are reporting problems, ATT, UUNET, InterNAT, Level3, even the company I work for and we are just Tier 2.

A lot of strange traffic on Port 1434 eating GB/s of traffic.

Edit:Sprint also.

I just checked my firewall, i have had hundreds of UDP calls on that port tonight...

My pager went off tonight at 1:38am EST. I think my servers are getting slammed pretty hard though they don't listen on that port. I need to do a better job setting my paging system to alert me of the problem rather than just a number telling me the severity. 😛 (this was a number 1 though) Thanks for pointing out the port and everything...I can't log in remotely so I'll probably go in tomorrow morning as long as our routers haven't crashed.

Yeah my router logs are showing TONS of attempted port 1434 entries over the past hour and a half or so. Most sites are still working ok for me so far (knock on wood).

Yeah...it's pretty much hit or miss for me. I can't even get to my Email Servers (and I have 4 of them total that I could use on different subnets) so I definitely suspect that either the nameservers are toast or the router is toast... This is quite disheartening to know that "computer roughians" are stirring about tonight.

I have a Microsoft Router hooked up to my desktop and a laptop running via WAP. Anything I should do? 😕

Make sure you don't have your computer in the DMZ, and close any special ports you may have opened.

If you have no idea what i'm talking about, don't worry about it, all that stuff comes closed by default. 🙂
