Bought my OCZ Agility 3 240GB back in 2011. Yesterday, it broke.
I was trying to run Warhammer 40k for the first time on Steam, so it was performing the usual DirectX setup. Suddenly my computer stops responding. I reboot, and now find I can't boot into windows. So, I try startup repair, which does nothing. I get my Windows 7 disc out, try all of the options, including system restore. Nothing. To my surprise, it says I don't have any system restore points (pretty sure I would not disable System Restore).
Its looking like a format and reinstall is on the cards, so I try a Linux live CD to see if I can get the data I need off my drive. It tells me it can't mount the drive, and that I should try run chkdsk /f. I do a bit of googling, and eventually run chkdsk /r, which apparently also does /f.
With that done, I can now mount the drive in Linux and copy my data off, but I can't boot. Startup repair doesn't help and I still can't even boot into safe mode.
So, I think, well I've got my data off, might as well install Windows 10. Nope. Can't do it. I delete the old partitions, allow Windows 10 setup to create new ones, still can't install.
I finally realize the inevitable, and place the order for a new SSD - a Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB.
I must admit, I'm a little disappointed that my SSD only lasted 4 years. Anyone else ever had one fail?
