freakin thing is HOT. idles not terrible @ mid 50's but load under rthdribl kills it at ~95. i noticed some oddness in rome:tw and ut04. not really artifacting but visible horizontal lines kind of cascading or running up/down the screen.

i considered a slot fan to exhaust some air but the case fans aren't blowing much hot air out. i think its just the crappy hsf and of course the ram has no sinks on most of them. i already applied as5 and gave it a week to cure but no help.

i use the zf700 on my 6800gt but i don't have the clearance in this desktop case. i'm wondering if anyone has tried snipping those fins back and how they did it. i'd like it to look decent anyway but cooling is the priority.

that is unless anyone has found another solution. i searched but seems most threads end up with the vf700 or nothing.

aren't they made of aluminum or copper? that would be hard to trim. btw it should not load 95, theres something wrong with the card or the hsf is not conteacting the gpu alot. get an nv silencer instead for the 6600, it will cool better as it brings out hot air out of the case.

the silencer only works on the pci-e from what i see.

i've seen others have the temps up around 90 but this desktop case is so small i can't imagine its helping. the hsf is on fine. the design just sux.

hmm it would be xtrememely to snip off since its metal....ur not having good air flow in ur case thats the reason as to why its so high...try setting the fan on high as well.

nah, its not so much the case, although that doesn't help. my p4 2.4c at2.8 can prime all night at 38-39. of course it has a decent cooler, unlike the 6600gt.

i might sell it to someone who has a case that will accomdate the vf700 if i can't figure out something. i only need to get about a 1/4" maybe 3/8 so its not like its all the fins i need to trim.

i missed this last nite i guess. i didn't think of how much weaker the copper is.

i wonder if i flipped it on its fins so the hs base is up and tried pulling a hacksaw across it it would work or would all the pins flex too much? itd be tough getting the snips into the fins i think as the fins are so tight together.
