The first one I got, it booted fine into windows (98se). I loaded the latest Nvidia ref drivers (12.41) and when I rebooted my video card would only display beautiful colors right from post. The card was fried. Now whether it was the nvidia driver or just a fluke I dunno.

When I got my 2nd card I used the ASUS drivers. But I want to use the new nvidia stereo drivers which require the use of 12.41 nvidia ref drivers. I a liitle afraid to do it. Has anyone used ref drivers with the ASUS v8200 deluxe successfully?

Thanks!

I just went and downloaded the 12.6's from Asus' site.

Grab 'em here.

Download the one that goes with your OS, of course.

Good luck!

The 12.60's are pretty good. I use the 12.90 nVidia reference drivers from Nvidia's site htough

Actually the latest reference drivers are 12.41. That's the latest you will get from Nvidia's website. The 12.90's are Beta drivers and have to be found elsewhere.

Wow, I was just about to post that. :) I had just checked my mail and viola!

Are the 12.60's beta then? I hate beta drivers. :) What would be the differences between the Asus drivers and the nVidia ones?

I don't mean to be rude, but the question I asked was if I can use nvidia reference drivers on my asus v8200. Has anyone done this without frying their card? I understand that asus is not a reference design. I'm asking this because I want to use the 3d laser xhair that comes with the asus stereoscopic drivers which only work with nvidia ref drivers and not the asus driver. I can't see past my quake3 crosshair because it's too much in the foreground and blocks targets.

Thanks,
