Between me and my friends we have purchased quite a few refurbed iPods from the Apple Store. With the use I get out of my iPod (8-10 hours a day) I run through hard drives. Add the 2 year warranty to the refurb and you will be set.
wthell do you do with your ipod?
I use my iPod at work for 8 hours a day, I have a nice setup in my office where it sits on a charger and is hooked up to 2.1 computer speakers. I have a nice hookup in my car, which is at least another hour a day for my drive time. At home I get at least an hour of soothing listening, maybe more on good days when I have time. I dont use playlists as much as I "should", the "should" meaning that I sacrifice battery power and spin up the drive more often by picking songs one at a time.
I know my usage far exceeds what Apple intends for an iPod, and as such Ive killed a few in the 4+ years that Ive owned an iPod. The two year warranty takes care of that problem for me. When I have had them die, it fails to load up and the hard drive will click. Apple Care does a good job of getting me another iPod with a quick turnaround. Ive convinced all my friends to buy iPods through Apple's refurb selection, and they have experienced no problems either.
