I'm thinking of ordering most of the components for a new system from them. What do you guys think?

I have ordered from them many times, I have found them to be one of the best vendors on the web, but not the cheapest.

For me, great experiences with them 1 and 2 years ago. However, I'd use ResellerRatings, they're a must before purchasing online.

They have 5.5 out of 7 on RR. I want to get the following from them:

Asus A7V
1.1Ghz T-bird
256MB Corasir Cas-2
IBM Deskstar 30GB
ATI Radeon 64MB Retail
SB Live MP3+ 5.1
Pioneer 16x DVD
Plextor 12/10/32
HP 930C
Windows ME
Sony 19"

This comes to just over $3K with shipping. Any comments on components or other vendors to check out?

I'am a cheap bastard so I would lose the 1.1ghz T-bird. I would probably drop back to the 800mhz one but even the 1ghz is $200 cheaper. You went for the asus board so you might as well leave some head room for overclocking. If you have no plans at all to overclock you might want to look into the MSI board. I have heard a whole lot about it stability not that the asus isn't stable.

mwave is great for the basis of your machine- motherboard, CPU, hard drive, DVD, case, floppy

for video cards and monitors - get it at onvia you save a pretty penny and get free shipping.

get memory direct from crucial or mushkin - equal or better quality at a lower price

software from i don't know

Yep I bought ALL components for a new system at once and am extremely satisfied with MWAVE.

Are the P3 1Ghz stability worth the extra price and a loss of 100Mhz to the T-bird? I already know what you all will say, but what are some real world thoughts? Thanks again!

EDIT: Is Mushkin PC-150 really that great, or is it just marketing. Would you get Crucial or Mushkin if all else was equal?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you saying that the P3 1ghz is more stable? hardly. The P3 is sitting at the end of its useful life at 1ghz, it aint going no higher in .18. The Thunderbird, on the other hand, has a lot of headroom left. That alone would dictate to me to go with a Tbird, because you're running much farther back from the envelope.

It says something that Intel had to recall the (whole dozen) 1.13ghz P3s because of instability in certain tasks.

Mwave is awesome for me... They're local enough where I can do will-call/pickup orders.

I've even returned one item, and it was super easy(far easier than it is at any major retailer).:D

Excellent Company...
Over 10 grand order from them... Like 10 or so complete systems...

Becarefull of their CPU and memory prices, sometimes they get outa wack...
Mwave doesn't change prices on that stuff so rapidly like the rest... unless it's going up ;o)

I've only had one DOA from them.. it was an IBM HDD, they quickly replaced it First and I shipped
back the Defective on later... Free of course...

I would definitely recommend mwave. Decent prices and no problems so far. I am also an advocator of resellerratings, but I wonder, what (if anything) prevents the seller themselves from posting good remarks about themselves...

I've ordered from them on a few occasions and have never had a problem. I''ve recommended them to many of my friends as well. Great company to deal with.

Phlashphire, some where on RR site it says that if they catch a company rep or someone giving the company a good review their rating is set to ZERO permanently. Go check out "the overclockerz store" on RR! It's pretty damn funny. I think I'll wait to see what AMD, Intel, and the video card makers roll out at the end of the year. I'll order my new box in January.

Bought from them many times with absolutely zero hassles. They are sometimes slightly more expensive but it is worth it. Plus they don't rape you too bad on shipping.

Highly recommended.
