Has anyone bought a UPS battery supply and use its software?

The reason I am asking is that the software create a supervisors account for the logged in users and its commeted saying its for UPS control.

Not sure if it is safe that backup battery software has the right to create accounts on a pc or not.

Specifically creating a SUPERVISOR account.

#weird.

I have used APC's PowerChute in the past to gracefully shut down a system when the electrical supply fails and battery backup kicks in. If you don't use something like that, your system is going to crash if/when the battery runs out of juice (in the same way it would if you pulled the cord from the power supply).

Are you talking about the same/similar thing?

I am using APC Powerchute with Win7. I see no evidence of a separate account being created. The software is highly programmable by the user so as to power down in the event of a power outage. I have it set to store all open data in a hibernation file and then power down.
