Has anyone bought a diamond online?

I have! I got it from goodoldgold.com, it wasn't that much cheaper because they have a retail store in NY, and they charge the same price online. anyway, they happen to have the one princess diamond that score "very high" in all 3 areas of the brilliancescope analysis (white light, color light, scintillation) in their possession. The owner of goodoldgold likes to order diamonds and cherry pick the nicer ones out. It is very rarely for a princess cut diamond to get all 3 very high scores, with their good return police, so I got it. Some people might say that the brillancescope analysis iscores are meaningless or flawed for fancy cut diamonds, but it is just one more tools one can use to check out the diamond without looking at it in person. All of these online places can order the same diamond from whoever wholesaler is selling that diamond, thats why you might see the same diamond from a few different online dealers with a diff price. None of the online dealer has it in stock, except maybe bluenile might have all their signature ones on hand. good luck! oh did I tell you my wife got tons of complliments on the ring. It is so sparkle that you can spot it all the way across the room. 😉

We talk about this every couple of weeks. You should search for diamond and/or ring to see what we all said last week.

I have a 10% discount code for Bluenile that expires on the 24th if you're looking to buy. PM me if interested.

Ed - ...and to answer your question; yes, I bought a GIA certified, 1.02 carat, E color, VVS2 clarity diamond from Bluenile a few months ago. I researched this diamond hunt for months and think I got the best deal possible.

hit up fatwallet for more info - there are a couple of good threads in the deal discussion area on this subject.

i just picked up a diamond from dirtcheapdiamonds.com. they had some pretty good prices and were very helpful in answering my questions. i ended up getting a custom ring made at a local jeweler and had them mount the diamond. the ring ended up appraising for $1000 more than i paid for it, and we're both very happy with the final product.

go to goodoldgold and pricescope.com and read up on the 4 C's - but focus most of your attention on Cut. pricescope has a cut advisor that took quite a bit of guesswork out of my purchase decision, and the forums there were very friendly.

good luck.
