Anyone here been to vietnam lately? I'm wondering if Electronics stuff are easy to find and relatively cheaper. Oh that and sporting goods. and well computer parts. I'm figuring digital cameras and relatively small stuff that can be placed in a luggage.

I'm going there soon and want to know should I buy in the US or go there and try and pick it up.

Do people actually visit Vietnam voluntarily?

My friend is highschool used to bring ridiculously cool sh!t back all the time during HS (3-4 years ago). He brought over MD players, the sony reverse-style head phones etc.

As for importing stuff, you are on your own. I jsut wanted to tl et you know that if thigns haven;'t changed too much, you should be able to find nice stuff there.

Haha.

Good luck to you.
Its my next project.
Have never been back since I left there when I was 3 and I would like to back soon.

How old are you anyway ?? and who are you going there with ?

Going again next summer. Hopefully grandma is still alive, or the trip would be pointless.

I'd probably stop over in taiwan for the good stuff though. Electronics over there would be black market, and more often then not, more expensive then you can find a good deal on over here.

EDIT: Other stuff though, like crafted objects and well, women can be bought for cheap. Custom tailored clothes is a good deal too.

I'm 22 I was born here so I'm going to see what my family ran from. oh that and slap a cousin of mine back there for wanting to marry some guy just to come to the US.

I'm going with my family. good thing though I don't know anyone neither does my brother I only read their letters and occasional phone calls. but I can play stupid and refuse charity.

my cousins and brother who are also going they were relatively young they were from 5 to 10 y/o when the family left. its been 24 years so they'll be clueless about people like me.

I'm not going though till june 05. But i'm bored and figure what I can look forward to buying.

I've been to Hanoi on business. But if you are gunning for cheap deals of electronics, PC hardware etc., skip it and head over to Singapore or Hong Kong.

It is a good place to pick up pirated software. Something on the lines of 98% is pirated. They even setup storefronts. They had 5 or so computers at the side of the store with women doing nothing but copying software.
