I just got here from Lancaster, CA (visited my cousins).

Here are a few things I want to do:

Gaslamp Quarter (my hotel is 3 blocks from here)
Seaport Village
Maritime Museum
Port of San Diego
Balboa Park
Museum of Contemp. Art

(I'm here Fri-Tues, but working Mon and Tues)

Anything else I should do? I do have a rental car but I hate driving without a GPS :(

Thanks!!!!

Oh... I didn't know the strip clubs in SD have a "no touch" for lap dances... :(

Old Town for some nice Mexican food
Point Loma/tide pools/Cabrillo Monument for some nature and killer views
San Diego Zoo is cool if you've never been to a big zoo before
La Jolla Cove is nice

If you're a fan of beer, you might want to check out some of the great breweries we have in town. Pizza Port in Solana Beach is pretty close to you, Coronado Brewing as well. There's always Stone up in Escondido, which is a bit of a drive from downtown, but well worth it in my opinion.

San Diego Zoo is cool if you've never been to a big zoo before, but the wild animal park is a lot better! :D
La Jolla Cove is nice
fixed a couple of things there. sorry to pick on your post but im still bitter about casa de pico getting shut down and moved all the way out to grossmont. ;)

gaslamp is nice, and seaport village is mile and a half away. balboa is also cool, especially the ruben h. fleet center. if you enjoy sports the padres are in town and in fact ill be at the games on sunday and monday. yes there is a 'no touch' rule, you can thank the city attorney's and board for that one. huge scandal, but some places will still give ya a pass.

should be a nice weekend weather wise, cruise down by mission beach and take it in. then head over to ocean beach for some good food. enjoy your weekend in sd!

You're right about Old Town, but it's a decent touristy area. And yeah, Wild Animal Park is better but a heck of a lot farther from downtown.

good point, but if we can convince him to go to stone then we* can read in the news how some crazy drunk hopped off the tram tour and tried to headbutt the rhino's.

that was another one of my favorites. i actually went on the last day it was opened. i havent gone back since. my family has a shop in the area, and the postman who delivers to old town says that its dead in there. sucks because it is a good tourist location, but the food there is not the best representation of what once was.

Have you been there? Horrible food at crazy prices. They make up for it with their beer though. ;)

the best meal that i had on my honeymoon was at cafe pacifico in SD. the steaks in vegas didn't compare to the swordfish in SD.

i remember when i was a kid and i went there for a field trip and my mom gave me something like $5 for food. she figured that'd be enough to get me a kids meal. more like enough for me to buy some animal feed and wash it down with the warm water fountain.

I'm assuming he was talking about Stone... The food isn't amazing, but I wouldn't call it horrible. But come on, who goes to a brewery to be wowed by the food?

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

actually i was talking about stone and the little back patio area they have. ;)

buy yea, the food isnt nothing to write home about. usually i stick to the spud buds and thats about it. i went there for a class one time though and enjoyed their mac and cheese and cheesecake. and another friend told me that the $40 steak for 2 isnt half bad. but yes, their beer selection is outstanding. i was surprised to see them serving up a cask conditioned ipa a week and a half ago. came in an 8oz glass also, pretty potent stuff.

Casa de Bandini's was probably the best mexican food i've had in San Diego. combine that with a historical hacienda, the mariachi bands always there, and the apple burrito's they had.... god damn, it's been years and it still pisses me off :|

Nope. I don't think anyone on ATOT has been to San Diego. Everyone is at the bottom of the ocean neffing away.
