Has anyone been on one end or the other of peer-to-peer loaning?

I am considering doing this for my school loan. Has anyone been on one end or the other of peer-to-peer loaning? What were your experiences?

School loan? I hope you're kidding. There are all sorts of avenues for getting a school loan that don't involve "peer to peer" lending. How about a Stafford Loan? Unsubsidized stafford loan? Or, that commercial on television advertising student loans? Do people really do peer to peer loans for more than, say, $100 (the cost of a typical textbook)?

Wasn't there a site like e-bay that you could get one big loan from a bunch of people's little loan offerings?

I used to sometimes Peer-to-peer "loan" software, mp3s, etc, but I don't do that any longer.
