Has anyone attended a live taping of SNL?

In my visit to New York City, I'd love to be able to attend a taping of SNL. I'm counting on getting stand-by tickets, but I hear horror stories of people camping out overnight just to get stand-by tickets and then getting rejecting even if they do get tix.

Anyone have personal experience with this? Can't find any online auctions or anything that sell them either :(

I'd love to go in the early to mid 90's but these days I don't think I could force myself to sit through an entire show. And I'm pretty sure it's the quality of the show that has gone down, not my ability to laugh.

No, but I have walked down a hallway in the rockefeller plaza during some tour, and I when I looked to my right I saw the whole SNL set :) It was pretty cool. Too bad it was a sunday and the place was deserted.

The show has changed, but i hasnt gotten that bad. It's catering to the younger croud now, which is why older people dont really find it amusing. PLus, without Chris Farley, Phill Hartman, and a few other missing people, it just isn't the same. I was really bumbed when chris farley died, loved that guy.

Good luck! it's almost impossible to get SNL tickets. I remember trying a while back and couldn't get them at all.

btw, if you like Conan Obrien, it's pretty easy to get tickets for that show. It's in the same building. A couple of years ago I called about a week in advance and got tickets for it. It was a really good show.

I was in New York Easter weekend. At the NBC store they have instructions on how to get tickets to the talk shows filmed out there.

SNL was done taking tickets request for this season. Stand-by were being passed out at 7am day of show and it wasn't a sure thing that you were going to get in. You had the choice for the dress rehearsal at 8pm or the actual show.

Conan tapes Tuesday through Friday.

Me and my girlfriend got sort of lucky. We were walking down Time Square and there were some people from Letterman giving tickets away. Should have been a sign of the guest quality that night. It was Monday April 1. Guest were Marv Albert, some chick from NYPD Blue.

Good luck in NYC and have fun.

How come you never see people running out on the stage during live shows like you do at sports events?
I could imagine some crazy fan going onto the stage during SNL and screaming at the cast

When is that show going to get funny people again??? I mean, where are the Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Phil Hartman, Kevin Nealand (kinda funny), Rob Schneider, etc.....and that's just that generation - I won't even go into all of the good guys from years past.

We want more movies like Billy Madison and Tommy Boy, damnit!! When was the last time a truly funny movie like that came out??

Thanks for the feedback... I plan to attend Conan. But my girlfriend and I would really love to see SNL.

Yeah I know that the stand-by line starts at 7am on Sat. But I've heard of people starting to wait in line Friday evening! I'm not counting on getting in, but I won't mind trying! :Q I wonder how many stand-by tickets are available

Anyway, I'm tempted to call this 1-900 number which reveals "secrets" of getting into stand-by lines for NY tv shows

Heheheheh, here's something that'll blow your mind: I attended a live taping of SNL. In 1984. Put that into your time machine and smoke it.

who was on it then? that was the Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, and Billy Crystal time right? great cast, all previous casts are great compared to the crap we've had from like 96 on.

Quite honestly, I don't remember who the special guest was. I was 16 years old...I was in Manhattan w/some high school friends (and my GF....*sigh*) and we walked by the studio and there was some guy just handing out tickets. We were in the right place at the right time. Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo played off each other perfectly. They were quite the team. SNL sucks, and has sucked for many years now. The only skit I like is the one with the guy..I can't think of his name.

In the skit, he always has some guest, and he always says "My name is......." and he smiles....cripes, I'm having a brain-fart at the moment...you know who I mean!
