If you're really worried, go through a ticket broker. It will cost you some serious cash though.

I bought Red Sox tickets, but they got swept. I am sending them back today for a refund, which he promised on his auction. I'll let you know if it worked out.

check out craigslist first. ppl there seem to be very nice/reliable. had a handful of transactions before through that; both buying and selling.

also broker sites like stubhub.com might seem safer.

I found craigslist a terrible place to buy tickets. When i was gonna buy tickets, some guy tried ripping me off by selling last years ALDS tickets. Good thing i saw that date and notced there was no WS champs logo on it. They guy kept insisting that they were good for this year.

well there are going to be those shady ppl and those who are selling at highly inflated prices. but i usually meet sellers to pick up the tickets and look them over. and when i've sold, i placed pics minus the barcodes on the post.
it really depends on who it is and what tickets you want to get.

i've bought them once, and it was pretty good. I paypal'ed the guy and arranged a meet up later to pick up the tickets in person. just check the feedback.

EDIT: another thing: the guy i bought them from apparently just bought the season tickets, and resold every single game, which i found after checking his auctions. that's another good guess to see if they're legit.
