Yesterday morning, my living room PC (on 24/7) got caught in some weird funk. It has an Intel G1 ssd as a boot drive, and the queue shot up to >5 and the drive activity stuck at 100% (as per resource monitor). It was extremely slow and the drive LED was stuck on, but I managed to restart (read/write was fine, just really laggy). I ran the full diagnostic in the intel toolbox, and got a BSOD hours later.
Luckily I had just run a backup of my boot drive a few days ago so I secure erased it and restored the image and things seem fine again.
Anybody ever seen this happen? I have seen similar activity before with the same SSD, but it sorted itself out after being stuck for maybe 5 seconds while this time it was stuck for hours before I gave up. Toolbox says 1.5TB writes so it's not that heavily used.
